At the Tallinn Ballet School, we created new choreographic pieces every year for the annual Christmas concert. Together as a group, we developed the choreography and concept and made collective decisions regarding costumes and makeup.
During my studies at Tallinn University, starting in 2011, I began creating small dance self-portraits and since 2014 I have increasingly focused on photographic stage productions.
I have always been drawn to the directing and organizational process: developing ideas, telling stories, designing costumes, assembling teams, working with sound, and editing. Between 2021 and 2024, I positioned myself as a production studio focused on creating short fashion, dance, and fantasy films. From 2011 to 2024, my work primarily consisted of experimental and conceptual dance films for online platforms, usually up to five minutes in length.
Since 2024, I have gained more hands-on experience in creating short choreographic works for children’s concerts and competitions. When developing a production, I research the theme in depth and carefully consider how, with whom, and in what form the final performance should take shape. When needed, I design lighting schemes, write and sketch scripts, plan stage design, develop costume concepts, select music or choose music together with the children for competition performances. My goal is to create a cohesive and complete artistic composition.
Participating in competitions with children is a new experience for me, yet I approach it with strong motivation and commitment. Before creating choreography, I actively involve the students by exploring their preferences regarding theme, music, and costume. This creates a collaborative teacher -student dynamic in which I guide the process through questions, examples, and conceptual input. Once the theme is jointly defined, we begin building the choreography and staging the performance piece.
