Since September 2024, I have been teaching creative dance through the development of fundamental human movement skills such as jumping, standing, walking, forward rolls, cartwheels, throwing and catching a ball, as well as rhythm and coordination, balance, movement through different spatial patterns, dancing in groups or with a partner, breathing techniques, stretching and historical dance steps. In kindergarten settings, I use a variety of props and tools, including skipping ropes, yoga blocks, balls, fabrics, balloons, sticks and other movement-based materials.
Creative dance functions as a small-scale stage composition with elements of improvisation, where certain moments are structured while others are intentionally left open for spontaneous expression. Costumes in creative dance can be highly colorful and theme-based. The music selection is diverse, ranging from lyrical compositions to experimental instrumental soundscapes.
