Dance technique, as I teach it, is a path of thinking, sensing, and mastering through the body. It is both a tool and a goal—supporting conscious, safe movement and the freedom that emerges from deep bodily awareness.
Our classes are grounded in diverse movement practices and pedagogical traditions, aiming to develop body awareness, technical skill, emotional presence, and creativity.
Influences and methods include:
Classical Ballet — foundational elements such as plié, tendu, battement, pirouette, and related principles.
Graham Technique — “contraction and release,” allowing emotional impulses to travel through the body.
I also integrate Somatic Movement practices into my classes. Somatic work focuses on first-person bodily experience sensing movement from the inside rather than performing shapes externally. Through slow, attentive exploration, students develop deeper proprioception, nervous system regulation and refined motor control.
Alexander Technique & Pilates — efficient and conscious use of the body, healthy movement patterns, and symmetrical alignment. We learn how to stand, lie down, sit, move, and breathe with greater awareness, building a deeper connection to the body through slow, intentional movement practices.
In addition, I teach breathing and relaxation as foundational elements that support and integrate movement.
